Evermusic vs Refrain
Evermusic streams your library from 30+ cloud services. Refrain keeps everything on the device. Which you want depends on where your music already is.
Evermusic is a cloud music player: it connects to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, pCloud, Box, MEGA and around thirty other services, plus Plex, Subsonic, Navidrome, Jellyfin and Emby servers, and streams your library from wherever it lives. Refrain has no cloud connections at all — files are copied onto the device and played from there.
The question is not which is better. It is whether your music lives in the cloud or on a disk, and whether you want a player that reaches out or one that cannot.

Where Refrain wins
Nothing to subscribe to. Evermusic's useful tier is paid — $59.99 to own it outright, or $19.99 a year. Refrain is free with no in-app purchases at all.
Genuinely no network. Evermusic offline means downloaded from your cloud for offline use. Refrain has no cloud to be offline from. In normal use it makes no network requests whatsoever, which is a different claim and a stronger one if privacy is the reason you are looking.
Fixing a messy library. Batch-set the artist, album and cover art across fifty tracks in one pass. Evermusic is built to play what your cloud already has; it is not built to repair a folder of badly tagged downloads.
Synced lyrics done properly. Sidecar .lrc/.srt or embedded SYLT, scrolling in time,
with a full-screen presentation mode for a room.
Transfer with nothing installed. A browser, an address, a code, drag the files on.
When Evermusic is the better pick
Your library is bigger than your phone. This is the decisive one. If you have 400 GB of music in cloud storage, Refrain cannot help you — it plays what fits on the device. Evermusic exists precisely for that situation and does it well.
You run a media server. Plex, Subsonic, Navidrome, Jellyfin, Emby — Evermusic connects to all of them. Refrain connects to nothing.
You need OGG, OPUS, WMA, APE or DSD. Evermusic's format list is significantly longer. Refrain's formats guide is honest about where it stops.
You want CarPlay, gapless playback, crossfade or Last.fm. All present in Evermusic, none in Refrain.
You have multiple devices. A cloud-backed library appears on all of them. Refrain's library lives on one phone and does not sync.
Moving your library across
Download from your cloud to a computer, then import the folder into Refrain — Add → Choose a folder, or drag it across with Wi-Fi transfer. Refrain imports everything not already in the library, so you can re-run it as you download more.
Be realistic about size before you start. A cloud library is unbounded; a phone is not. Bring the albums you actually play.
